Academic beach handball club Detono Zagreb participated last weekend at the tournament in Zalaegerszeg, small Hungarian city, where BHC AXA beach stars Budapest (current European champions) organized the tornament for world Guinness record. After a 28-hour continuous duration of the beach handball tournament could be established that the record is set. Also, teams from Detono Zagreb accomplished very good result.

Specifically, "Detonators" from Zagreb went to Hungary with two male (Detono Zagreb and Time out) and one women's team (Detono Zagreb). In competition of 15 male and 6 female teams our club won the second (Time out), third (Detono Zagreb) in male category, and second place in the women's competition. It is worth to mention that Croatian teams provide a great contribution to setting up of Guinness record: Beach handball club Dugi Rat (total fourth place) and Beach handball club White boys from Kaštela near Split (they lost in quarterfinal of this strong tournament) also participated on tournament that is held in Zalaegerszeg.

Big surprise is our team Time out, which was constitute from younger players and few seasoned individuals. Goalkeeper Čiča and executor Vutmej with the rest of the team managed to reach the finals. On his way to the final they beat current European champions (AXA beach stars in quarterfinal), and Detono Zagreb in semifinal. In final Time out lost from Letenye H2O Select team, which was a better team. They won first place with result of 2:0.

Detono girls accomplished also good result on the courts of Aquacity park in Zalaegerszeg. They beat all teams except two defeats from Hungarian team Beach girls (in group and in final). Beach girls were better on this tournament and they deserve to be best team in Zalaegerszeg.

Tournament was quite well organized. I'm glad that all Croatian teams settled a very good positions which showed that quality of beach handball in Croatia is very high. Three Croatian teams in the tournament semifinals in another country is really an extraordinary and valuable result of praise - said at the end of the tournament Zoran Glavočić- President of Detono Zagreb.

From Hungary, our club is returning with two individual awards - Ana Vranešić was declared for the best goalkeeper of tournament while Mladen Paradžik declared best player of the tournament.

We also must commend the organizers of the competition, because they secured accommodation and food for all teams throughout the tournament. All participants were awarded with gift packages from sponsors. We hope that the organizers will arrange this tournament next year and that the Guinness record will be set up anew.

For Detono Zagreb (girls) played: Vranešić, Domjančić, Tomasic, Krajcar, Milic, Žgela, Leljak, Krivo, Kelava.

For Time out played following players: Čiča, Hranilović, Požeg, Vutmej, Močilac, Vrnoga, Rokavec and Maras.
